"Those who don't hear the melody
think those who dance are crazy."
Oswaldo Montenegro

In the historic center of Olivenza, in Plaza del Castillo, there is a monument in honor of the "La Encina" Choir and Dance Group. This bronze monument was installed in the square in 2011, receiving great reception among the city's residents. Founded in 1943 by Mrs. Encarnación Ramallo and Mr. Antonio González, the "La Encina" Choir and Dance Group is part of everyday life in Olivença because with their dances and songs they managed to recover much of the past of this city with a strong Portuguese influence that became is reflected in their repertoire and costumes, although they also represent works from different areas of Extremadura.
